History
The Glenfinnan Viaduct was built between 1897 and 1901 by Robert McAlpine's company to carry the West Highland Railway extension to Mallaig. It was one of the first major structures built from mass concrete.
Its 21 curving arches became world-famous after appearing in the Harry Potter films. In summer, the Jacobite steam train crosses it with views down Loch Shiel to the Glenfinnan Monument.
