Terms and Conditions
Last updated October 2026. This is a template: have it reviewed by a solicitor before launch.
These terms govern your use of Sim Britain (https://sim.britain.bid), operated by Creative Filter Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 10014924), registered office First Floor Suite 1.01c, 62 King Street, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 1PZ ("we", "us"). By buying a listing or using the site you agree to them.
1. What you are buying
A paid, time-unlimited advertising placement on a spot on the Sim Britain map: your name, logo, description and a link, displayed until someone else outbids you, you remove it, or we remove it under these terms. You do not buy real land, property, naming rights, or any ownership of the location depicted. Landmark, airport and other place names are used descriptively and do not imply endorsement by, or affiliation with, those places or their owners.
2. Pricing and outbidding
Every spot starts at £1. When a spot is bought, the next price is double the price just paid. Another buyer may purchase the spot at that doubled price at any time, at which point your listing is replaced and you are listed as a previous tenant. Prices are shown in GBP and include everything: we take Stripe processing fees into account when setting prices and do not add surcharges. Where VAT applies it is included or shown at checkout.
3. Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
4. No refunds
All purchases are final and non-refundable. Your placement goes live as soon as payment completes; by buying you ask us to start immediately and acknowledge that you lose any right to cancel once it has started, to the extent permitted by law. Being outbid is part of the service and does not give rise to a refund. No refund is due if we remove a listing for breaking these terms or the site rules. The only exception: if two people pay for the same spot at the same moment, the first completed payment wins and the second is returned automatically, because we cannot deliver it. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
4a. Promotional codes
We may issue codes that allow a spot to be claimed without payment. Codes are at our discretion, may be withdrawn at any time and have no cash value. Spots claimed with a code follow the same outbidding rules, and the next price doubles from the spot's listed price. The amount-raised counter includes the listed value of spots claimed with codes.
4b. Treasure hunt credit
During our treasure hunts, the first person to collect a hidden item gets £1 of Sim Britain credit (one find per person per day). Credit can only be spent on Sim Britain spots while logged in with the email address it was collected with, can cover all or part of a price, and cannot be combined with a promotional code. It has no cash value and cannot be exchanged, refunded or transferred. If a purchase made with credit cannot complete, the credit is returned to you. We may cancel credit collected with automated tools, scripts or multiple accounts, and may change or end a hunt at any time. See the treasure hunt rules.
5. Your content
You confirm you have the right to use the name, logo and link you submit and that it complies with the site rules and the law (including advertising codes). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display it, and to store and serve it from our systems. You are solely responsible for your content and your website.
6. Moderation
We may refuse, edit, hide or remove any listing or comment at our discretion, including content that is unlawful, misleading, or harmful. Comments are by their authors; we are not responsible for them.
7. Links and third parties
Outgoing links are paid placements, tagged rel="sponsored" and with UTM parameters. We are not responsible for the content, products or services of linked websites, and visiting them is at your own risk.
8. Availability and liability
The site is provided "as is" and may be unavailable from time to time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version on this page applies. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
