History
Eilean Donan stands on a small island where three sea lochs meet. A castle was first built here in the 13th century, and it was destroyed during the Jacobite rising of 1719.
It lay in ruins for almost 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap rebuilt it between 1912 and 1932. It is now one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.
